Hello Everyone,

Here's what we covered in class today:


Class Periods 3 and 4:

My View 1.5, Pages 56-64

Pages 56-57: Talked about what winter and summer are like in the US and Australia. 

Page 58: Learned about the long u sound (ex: square) and short u sound (ex: duck) and learned about the long i sound for words with igh in their names (right, sigh, etc.)

Page 59: Filled in the missing igh to complete words that were part of sentences. 

Page 60: Underlined igh words in sentences and used them to write three sentences of our own. 

Page 61: Learned about suffixes (word part added to the end of a word to make a new word) and the suffixes -er and -or in particular. These suffixes mean the one who ______ (ex: sailor = the one who sails). 

Page 62: Filled in blanks with five different vocab words. 

Page 63: Matched words with -or or -er suffixes with their pictures. 

Page 64: Filled in blanks using three vocab words from a word bank and made sentences using the unused word.


Homework:

1) Write Week 13 vocabulary words #9-16 x 4. 

2) Sensay Week 13 Read Aloud Activity.

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class today: Class Periods 3: My View 1.2, Pages 99-102 Page 99: Segmented and blended the sounds of the words brick, plant, and snow. Also, discussed the prefixes re- (again) and un- (opposite of) and went over some examples. Page 100: Fill-in-the-blank with some words and wrote two sentences for the two words we did not use in the blanks. Page 101: Went over examples of words with re- and un- prefixes and wrote the correct prefix to complete a word after reading the description. Page 102: Fill in the blanks with the correct un- or re- prefix and write two sentences using words that contain these prefixes. Class Period 4: My View 1.2, Pages 103-105: Read the decodable "Best Time of the Year" about children named Drew, Sue, and Newt. We learned about their favorite seasons and why the like them. We also highlighted words with the same vowel sound as clue and found and underlined words with the un- and re- prefixes. "Best Time...

Hello Everyone, Here's what we covered in class today: Class Period 3: 1) I collected MyView 1.2 Workbooks from the students. 2) Students took the Week 14 Unit Test. I will hand these back on Monday.
