Page 18: Diphthong ow and ou - Diphthongs are vowel sounds that are spelled differently but sound the same. We learned about words that had the same diphthongs and circled them after viewing the matching image. Here is a popular video about the ow and ou diphthong:
Page 19: Diphthong ai and ay - We learned about words that have these particular diphthongs and circled the correct words after viewing the matching image. We also wrote a sentence using two ay diphthong words. Here is a popular video about the ai and ay diphthong:
Page 20: Filled in the missing letters of incomplete words in sentences.
Page 21 & 22: Practiced writing the letters X,x and K,k.
Period 7:
Skill Sharpeners Math: Pages 18-20
Pages 18 & 19: We learned a new skill for adding 3 or more numbers-when any two numbers add to 10, we can add these two numbers first and then add the other numbers to this result.
Page 20: We learned the values of some U.S. coins and used these values, and addition and subtraction, to find the answers to some word problems.
Homework:
1) Several student did not complete the writing assignment and the rough draft was due today. Since we need to write three drafts (rough draft, second draft, final draft), I really need the students to turn in their Personal Narrative writing assignment to me. I already allowed the students one class period last Friday to work on their assignment and I set it for their homework over the weekend. As a reminder, students need to write a five sentence Personal Narrative in their bubble books.
