Tuesday, October 1 Classes
Hello Everyone,
Here is what we covered today:
Class Period 3:
MyView 1.4, pages 148-150: We learned about the ow/ou diphthong. Diphthongs are different sets of letters that have the same vowel sounds. For the ow/ou diphthong, words like cow and found will have the same vowel sound. We carefully pronounced the names of what we saw in some pictures, and I pointed out that these words all have the same vowel sound. As we looked at other pictures of things with the ow/ou diphthong, we matched these pictures with their words. We also filled in blanks and wrote a couple of sentences using words with the ow/ou diphthongs.

Class Period 4:
MyView 1.4, pages 151, 153, 154: We said the names of pictures with middle short a and middle long a sounds in order to be able to notice the difference between the two sounds. We then focused on the long a sound, learning about the vowel diagraphs ai and ay, which are spellings that have the same long a sound. We pronounced words with this sound and identified whether the words of pictures contain the letters ai or ay. We also read some sentences and located the words that contained the ai/ay diagraph. One of the sentences reminded me of the lyrics "I never wanna hear you say I want it that way" from a popular 2000s American song. I played the song for the class: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fndeDfaWCg. Finally, we wrote a few sentences using words with the long a sound.
