Tuesday, October 8 Classes

Hello Everyone,

Here is what we covered today:

Class Period 3:

1) MyView 1.4, pages 161-167: We read the story together and I showed the students a map with the first 13 states during the reading. I asked the class questions about the reading and the American flag. We highlighted and underlined details from the story and discussed the meaning of seamstress.

Class Period 4:

MyView 1.2, pages 123-126:

Page 123: Categorized words that have the ow/ou diphthong into their correct groups.

Page 124: I talked about the “to be” verbs: am, are, is, was, were. I explained how and when to use them, depending on the person or group of people you are referring to, as well as whether you are talking about the past or present.

Page 125: We talked about nouns, pronouns, adverbs, and interjections. I gave examples and we talked about when and where to use them.

Page 126: We talked about the different kinds of sentences and their endings (declarative: “.”, interrogative: “?”, exclamatory: “!”, and imperative: “.” or “!”. We filled in the missing sentence endings based on a few example sentences. We first needed to decide what type of sentence we were reading.
